My parents have been involved in veal farming since the early 1970’s. I helped them with feeding from an early age, although they probably thought of it more as me getting in the way. Now I run the whole business. In 1998, I was fresh out of agricultural college with bags of energy and innovative ideas about operational management.
The Peter’s Farm concept allows me to completely fulfil my ambitions. On a personal level, I love animals and as a young entrepreneur, I am attracted to innovation and challenges.
In 1999, we built new stalls in order to be able to become a Peter’s Farm. Entrepreneur- ship comes naturally to veal farmers. We always want to go to the next level. Stagnation means regression. But one needs to be responsible and work in harmony with the concept. We now also have solar panels for generating energy and a wood burning boiler installation. We have meanwhile also acquired a solar heated boiler system to heat water for the calves’ milk and we hope to install it on the roof shortly. These days, you need to think beyond purely economic aspects. You need to have values, as we do with Peter’s Farm.
